What happens to the details you give me, and what you can ask me to do with them. Last updated 28 September 2026.
Who I am
Scott Web is run by Scott McAllister, a sole trader in Lanarkshire and Greater Glasgow. I decide what happens to your details, which makes me the “data controller” under UK data protection law. To ask anything about this notice, use the contact form or reply to any email from me.
What I collect, and why
When you send the contact form
Your name, business name, email address, phone number (if you give it), the type of business, the kit you’re interested in, and your message. I use them to reply to you and, if you want to go ahead, to prepare a quote. My lawful basis is taking steps at your request before a possible contract, and my legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
When you visit the site
Cloudflare, which hosts the site, handles your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and keep out attacks. On the contact page, Cloudflare Turnstile checks you’re not a bot. It uses signals from your browser, not tracking cookies. Both are needed for the site to work safely, so they don’t ask for consent.
If you accept cookies
Google Analytics counts visits and shows which pages are useful. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_…, which last up to two years, and Google sees your IP address. It only loads if you press Accept, and you can change your mind with , which is also in the footer. Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage (as consent) so you aren’t asked on every page.
Who else handles your details
These companies process details on my behalf, under contracts that limit what they can do with them:
- Cloudflare: hosting, security and the Turnstile check.
- Resend: sends the contact form to my inbox.
- My email provider: stores the enquiry emails I receive.
- Google: Analytics, only if you accept cookies.
Some of them are based in, or store data in, the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the UK–US data bridge or the UK’s standard contract clauses.
How long I keep it
Enquiries that don’t lead to work are deleted after 12 months. If you become a client, I keep your details for as long as I look after your site, then for six years for tax and accounting records. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months.
Your rights
You can ask me to give you a copy of your details, correct them, delete them, or stop using them. You can also object to how I use them. I’ll reply within a month. There’s no charge.
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your details, please tell me first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If this notice changes, I’ll update the date at the top.
